Print is how I entered my marketing career. While it was a main focus of my degree, I also worked for one of the largest printing companies in Columbus which greatly enhanced my industry knowledge. Besides having a wide variety of print capabilities, we also performed automated USPS mailing campaigns that greatly expanded upon previous work experience and provides a unique perspective when designing print marketing pieces.

Working for a couple retail product manufacturers, we sold directly to retail and distributor networks, but sold indirectly to the consumer. This led to a wide array of sales and marketing efforts including presentations, trade shows, and product development on the business side, to packaging, user documents, and POP materials on the consumer end. And digital assets for both.

The first catalog project I worked on was a 64-page, 700+ SKU product catalog. As a new junior department member, I mainly transported products to the photographers and, of course, assisted in the many editing sessions. A couple years later on a new product catalog project, I photographed and cleaned all product images and worked with the advertising agency in translating layout, sizing and product data instructions. And, of course, the editing.

The next catalog project turned out to be my third and fourth. With an aggressive due date for an important trade show, it was decided to also update the existing 16-page catalog with new images, products and data with the existing digital graphics contractor, while the new product catalog was also under construction. In addition to working with both graphic agencies, I also tutored two college interns on product photography, while cleaning and preparing the images for placement into the catalogs.

The next company also had over 700 products, and also operated two separate sales and distribution entities on-site. For this catalog project, I completed all product photography and cleaning while also integrating CAD-quality dimensional illustrations. I also laid out the full project in InDesign and prepared and formatted the files for print...providing complete, start-to-finish, in-house production. Soon after, I manipulated the existing layout to produce the first catalogs for the other two on-site entities.

On my last catalog project, again provided the same end-to-end, in-house production, but this 16-page catalog needed to be translated into five other languages and laid out to the A4 page size for the individual markets. Utilizing advanced InDesign automation capabilities, I inserted all translations and delivered to various global printers in under a month.
